Nigeria is set to auction undeveloped oil and gas blocks in 2025, with a focus on natural gas development to support the country’s commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. This upcoming auction will be the third since the enactment of the Petroleum Industry Act in 2021, which aims to boost oil production and fund government expenditures. The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) has already completed a bidding process for new offshore oil blocks, with successful bidders expected to receive their licenses within a few months.
